Zee Cine Awards are instituted by the Zee Network, a Mumbai-based TV station. The awards are intended to target South Asians globally.
History of Zee Cine Awards:
The awards were inaugurated in 1998 and unlike the Oscars is a mixture of categories decided on by public votes, as well as categories solely judged by an industry jury. The venue was none other than the hub of Indian cinema, Mumbai.

The organization took a bigger step forward and went international in 2004 by holding the award ceremony in Dubai. In 2005, Zee Cine Awards went to London and 2006 is taking ZCA to Mauritius, the hub of Asian Glamour and Lifestyle.
The trophies are another distinctive feature of the awards, because of the quality of their Australian craftsmanship. Each trophy is 24 carat (100 %) gold plated.
Award Categories
The awards are given in the current year but the winner is awarded for the performance or work for the previous year.
